Biography

Dr Timothy Roberts is a Consultant Cardiologist with subspecialty expertise in echocardiography and adult congenital heart disease. Tim holds clinical appointments at St Vincent’s Public and Private Hospital, Knox Private Hospital, and Goulburn Valley Health Shepparton. He graduated from medical school at Monash University in 2005 and completed his cardiology advanced training in 2012. Since then, Tim has undertaken a local fellowship in Echocardiography at St Vincent’s Hospital, Melbourne, and international fellowships in Adult Congenital Heart Disease at The Royal Brompton Hospital, London, and Erasmus MC, Rotterdam.

Tim completed his PhD through The University of Melbourne, assessing exercise performance and cardiopulmonary limitations in people with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes. His research has been published in leading international journals, and he has presented his work at the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) Congress and American Heart Association (AHA) Scientific Sessions. Tim was awarded the Australian Diabetes Society (ADS) President’s Young Investigator Award in 2016 at the ADS-ADEA Annual Scientific Meeting.


Tim is actively involved in clinical teaching of junior medical staff and is a Professional Development and Educational Supervisor of Basic Physician Trainees at St Vincent’s Hospital. Outside of work, Tim is an avid skier and outdoor adventurer, passionate traveller, out-of-practice violinist and devoted father to his two young daughters.
